Morimoto ASIA - Patina Restaurant Group / STUDIO V Architecture

- Silver

In Morimoto ASIA, celebrity “Iron Chef” Masaharu Morimoto’s new restaurant, the architects transformed a former industrial shed into a 525-seat restaurant for a $17 million budget. This was the famous chef’s first Pan-Asian restaurant, and the unique design is inspired by contemporary interpretations of artwork, motifs, and materials from diverse Asian cultures, combined with the original building’s industrial language to create a contemporary dining environment overlooking a lake and gardens. The massive restaurant sprawls across multiple levels and features a dramatic dining room that is over 37 feet in height. The design features multiple dining areas, bars, sushi bar, lounge, connecting all of the different areas in the restaurant across multiple levels and unified by one of the longest continuous bars in the world.

InterContinental New York Barclay Hotel - InterContinental Hotels Group / HOK

Interior Design - Hospitality

- Silver

Global architecture and interiors firm HOK was charged with the redesign of the InterContinental New York Barclay Hotel, an 87-year-old property located in Midtown Manhattan built by the Vanderbilts. The project involved implementing major architectural and FF&E modifications to the entire 39,000-square-meter, 701-key, 16 floor property including guestrooms, lobby, reception, lounges, meeting & ballrooms, public areas and food & beverage outlets. HOK’s interior design was inspired by elements from the property’s past that are integrated throughout the hotel in a creative and original execution. As a result of this £138 million interior upgrade and redesign, which spanned nearly 20 months, the dramatically transformed, reimagined property is now able to meet the needs of today’s business travelers, meeting planners and tourists seeking an inspired hospitality experience in the heart of New York City.

Ludlow House - Soho House & Co

Interior Design - Hospitality

- Gold

Ludlow House is Soho House & Co’s second outpost in Manhattan, located at 139 Ludlow Street in New York City’s Lower East Side. Designed to reflect the neighborhood’s playful, vibrant energy, Ludlow House is set in a four-story Gothic building, offering a variety of distinct space for members to eat, drink, work, and play. Each floor was conceived to have it’s own identity, with a playful, edgy aesthetic consistent throughout. When compared to Soho House New York, Ludlow House can be described as its ‘younger sister.’ Many of the club rooms are named after cultural relics from the neighborhood’s colorful past, such as the ground floor Living Room, a nod to the iconic live music venue, plus the Velvet Room and Lou’s Kitchen & Bar, both taking inspiration from John Cale’s apartment where he and Lou Reed recorded early Velvet Underground demos.
