Project Brief
eProfiling asked us to build an iPhone and Android application that integrated with their existing website database to assist RTO's and their students to manage their competency tracking via mobile devices.
The system we created stores details offline so people who are out on work sites can enter in multiple cards of information, and then when they are next connected to the internet sync these with the online application.
Project Need
eProfiling identified that their student demographic were young, tech savvy and had smart phones and were having trouble keeping track of their competency cards using paper or the website while they were on the job, sometimes out of range of internet.
The iOS and Android apps we built have been largely popular with over 5000 iPhone users and 500 Android users regularly using the app instead of the website.
User Experience
The user logs into their existing eProfiling account and then the app syncs their current cards so they can view / edit them on their phone.
New cards and changes to existing cards are kept on the phone and when a user decides to submit a card it syncs with the server API.
The actual fields and their values for each core or elective competency are dynamically updated from the server when a sync occurs allowing the eProfiling system to provide updates in real time and serve multiple Disciplines and their Certs.
When a card has been accepted a user can see this in their card list.
This means there is a single and easy to use place to store and reference all their work place evidence gathering requirements.
As this information is a requirement to pass certification, this app makes the lives of these students much easier on a daily basis.
Project Marketing
The apps are part of the suite of tools eProfiling provide to their students. By having mobile apps for both iOS and Android their product suite is more valuable to the certification companies which they sell their services to.
The more popular this tool becomes with students, the higher demand there is for other certification companies to choose eProfiling over their competitors.
