During Back to School 2015 (BTS15) Officeworks sought to persuade parents that Officeworks is their one stop shop for all of their back to school needs, to be best prepared for the school year ahead. As part of the campaign approach to persuade parents and engage their children, Officeworks created the Growing Minds app to keep young minds active during school holidays. The app generated thousands of downloads during the 5 week campaign, meaning Officeworks was directly engaging with thousands of school children. The games were played numerous times, on average for more than a few minutes, with a percentage of those who downloaded the app going in-store to unlock additional games. The app also featured in the iOS App Store ‘Best New Apps’ category.

This led us to creating a creative platform & methodology mapping the Pre-During-After Easter Show experiences of customers.

The Telstra Perth Fashion Festival (TPFF) is one of Australia’s premier fashion events. The Festival celebrates the work of local, national and international designers across a week long program of fashion events. Now in its 17th year, the Festival installed a theme of “technology in fashion” to enhance the experience of guests attending the 2015 event. Employing the latest advances in technology, Alive worked with the Festival to develop a event companion app across android, iOS and Apple Watch devices.

We were tasked to draw Sydney’s fashion elite back to the newly refurbished Macquarie Shopping Centre, reposition it from “old-fashioned” to “The Face of Fashion”. To connect and engage consumers, we ‘eventised’ the launch of the Macquarie shopping centre by creating Australia’s first "SHOPPABLE CATWALK". Utilising patented audio watermarking technology, MyMacquarie synced to the show, placing the style inspiration of the catwalk in the palm of fashionistas' hands, enabling spectators to move from inspiration, to change room, to purchase. The app successfully placed over 70,000 individual fashion items, directing users into store following the show.

Booodl is the best tool for shopping locally. Through the app, users can easily find nearby stores that stock items they want and message shop assistants. From there they can head in-store to buy, or purchase in-app with the ‘Tap + Buy’ feature. It brings the ease of online shopping to the physical retail world. Users will also get a push notification when anything on their list is stocked nearby – it’s like a personal shopping assistant in your pocket. That means no more kick-yourself moments when you forget to pick up those Nespresso capsules!

With the new CommBank app for tablet, users now have the option of banking on an app designed specifically for their tablet device. The overall design and features leverage the tactile nature of the device as well as the screen size when compared to mobile and desktop. Moreover, the new features provide further insight into a user’s finances, allowing them to visualise both spend and savings potential.

We had to encourage and enable young Victorians to get involved in the electoral process and fulfill their democratic duty. The Vote Victoria app was a resounding success. Downloads of our app tripled those of the previous election's app and average usage increased 1000% to over 30 minutes. Combining users with the PR & social media coverage generated by the app, our estimates indicate it reached over half of the 18-24 year old population in Victoria, with an average 5 star rating by those who used it.

If you do find yourself in the unfortunate situation of using the app in an emergency you can be safe in knowing that the information is on the one thing almost everyone is guaranteed to have, their mobile phone.

The Juniper app is a visually stunning iOS app that explores the story and artwork of the Mason Judy story. The beautiful illustrations were created by the West Australian artist Robert Juniper, and the author of the children's book Trevor Todd is heard narrating the story. The digitisation of WA's rare children illustrations book is the first of the State Library of WA's step towards transforming the way they curate the items in their collections. The Android app is currently in completion and will be ready for the Google Play Store in mid October.

Free Cuppa for the Driver Apps - Orange, Cabonne Councils

Fatigue is one of the three big killers on NSW roads. Free Cuppa is an application created to support the Free Cuppa for the Driver Campaign. The campaign encourages drivers to take the time to arrive alive. The campaign began in 2010, however in 2015 Marones took the paper based scheme offered by Local Government Road Safety Officers and created the Free Cuppa Apps. Drivers visiting Bathurst, Blayney, Cabonne, Dubbo, Forbes, Gilgandra, Gwydir, Lachlan, Moree Plains, Narrabri, Orange, Parkes, Warrumbungle and Wellington council areas are offered a free cup of coffee or tea at participating businesses.

 

Okee in Medical Imaging - The Royal Children's Hospital / Conduct

Having a medical imaging appointment can be overwhelming and distressing for young patients. The Royal Children’s Hospital, Melbourne (RCH) and Conduct have developed a mobile and tablet application that utilises games, videos, photography and text to prepare children and families for medical imaging scans in a fun and engaging way. The application explores CT, MRI, ultrasound, nuclear medicine, X-ray and fluoroscopy in detail. A research study was conducted in conjunction with development. The study demonstrated that app usage was successful in reducing parent and radiographer perceptions of patient anxiety, increasing patient compliance and reducing preparation time required in hospital.
