Project Brief

The goal is to improve on our past range of products with improved construction techniques, better materials, more comprehensive branding and packaging and most importantly clean and solid designs.

Project Innovation/Need

Our new collection offers a range of products which excel in workmanship and simple accessible design.

Design Challenge

The main challenge was to achieve consistent high quality manufacturing with sustainably sourced timbers for a reasonable price

Sustainability

We weighed up the options of timber source, manufacturing base and transport impact and found the most effective way we could produce a sustainable product of high quality was to focus on the source of our raw materials.

We are using thin strips of US FSC certified furniture grade timber which would otherwise be discarded by the timber mills. These thin strips of timber are transported to Indonesia where they are then laminated then finished into products before being sent to Australia.

Instead of using petrochemical based mineral oils to finish the products we use locally made coconut oil as a surface treatment.

This award celebrates creative and innovative design for either a component or overall product. Consideration given to aspects that relate to human usage, aesthetics, selection of components and materials, and the resolution of assembly, manufacturing and the overall function.
