About Melbourne Design Awards

The Melbourne Design Awards represent the diversity and culture of the Melbourne design industry.

Melbourne as a recognised global design city, features both local and international design activity, and the shortlisted entries in the Melbourne Design Awards represent an annual snapshot of the sophisticated design culture in the Melbourne marketplace.

Already in the 3 year history of the Awards, we've seen the entries from the top 50 designers in Melbourne and this years' program gives another opportunity for professional designers, design commissioners and brand managers to have their design works recognised.

"Tomorrow is the result of yesterdays courage. That is why we celebrate courage"
Mark Bergin, Creative Director

Presented by design100.

The aim of the Melbourne Design Awards is to:

  • Celebrate those who produce excellent design works.
  • Celebrate those who sponsor, fund or commission design projects.
  • Promote and encourage participation and conversation in all aspects of design.

The awards are open to any designer, design studio, commissioner of design or student provided that they are active in the Melbourne market:

  • Art Directors
  • Creative Directors
  • Architects
  • Interior Designers & Decorators
  • Textile Designers
  • Graphic Designers
  • Illustrators
  • Brand Managers
  • Product Managers
  • Event Producers
  • Product Designers & Engineers
  • Students

Entry Process

Entries are submitted online and reviewed by the advisory panel to ensure they meet entry criteria. Once an entry is shortlisted, it is published on the Melbourne Design Awards site and is then available for public and peer viewing, comment and voting.

Assessment Process

The Assessment Process involves an expert judging panel, members of the design industry and people from the design marketplace. Award winners are not determined by popularity but rather by their overall rating.
