Project Roam

Project Brief

Project:roam was a series of roving projection activations that took place on key nights of the Gertrude Street Projection Festival. Through the use of mobile projection devices the interactive (projection) experiences took place at random locations, traversing the street-scape canvases of Gertrude Street and beyond.

Project Need

Project:Roam brings movement and interaction to the projection medium that is usually stationary. Through a variety of pre-designed concepts we can interact with the environment, the circumstances and the people we encounter along the way.

"Thanks so much for being part of 2013! Witty, creative and colourful! It was just great - your team were certainly crowd pleasers. I hope you're able to be part of 2014." Kym Ortenburg, Gertrude Street Projection Festival Director

Design Challenge

The Project:Roam concept pushed the mobile projection technology to it's limits. The devices are not designed to run over 60 unique animation .mov files and the content management system leaves a lot to be desired. But with careful planning and rehearsals we were able to overcome these limitations to deliver amazing engaging results.

Sustainability

Consumer experiences are often very resource heavy and wasteful. With some cleverly crafted content and our mobile projectors running on rechargeable batteries we created a crowd pleasing activation with the lightest carbon footprint of the whole festival. Best of all, it is 100% reusable time after time.
