Winners Announced - 2015 New York Design Awards

🕒 23/11/2015

Winners of the 2015 New York Design Awards were today announced by design100 Founder Mark Bergin including the Best Studio less than 5 - Clouds Architectural Office, Best Studio 5 to 20 - Mucca Design, and Best Studio 20+ - HOK. Design Champion has been awarded to Elon Musk in recognition of the winning Tesla Power Wall and Model X projects and SpaceX Dragon.  66 winning projects (gold and silver) have also been awarded across the disciplines of Space, Object, Visual and Experience.

Selected winning projects are to be interviewed at the Design Summit [NYC] to be held at the South Street Seaport Culture District on Wednesday 2 December. The Design Summit will explore the projects across 4 themes - Design Courage, The Design Economy, Made for People and Future & Now and will be hosted by renowned Australian presenter Fenella Kernebone assisted by panel members and Mark Bergin.

“The courage demonstrated by clients and creative teams is the powerhouse behind a strong pool of award winners.

We live in an age where technology is disrupting the status quo; design is the fast track for society to harness disruption, reconnecting the community, markets and transforming the economy.

There is no way a single statement can summarise the diversity of projects, innovation and disruption covered throughout the awards – the only recommendation I have is attend the summit, immerse yourself with the inside stories and learn how others are creating award winning projects” said Mr Bergin

Gold winners include - Keep it in the Ground, Film, Video, Viral - The Guardian, The Champagne Suite at The New York Palace Hotel, Interior Design Hospitality - The New York Palace Hotel/HOK, FLIR ONE, Product Design Personal Use - FLIR Systems Inc, Sephora - Custom Type, Graphic Design Illustration & Type - Sephora/Mucca, Microsoft Flagship Store - New York, Service Retail Experience - Microsoft USA, Leafs by Snoop, Graphic Design Corporate Identity & Branding -  Merry Jane/Pentagram, YouTube Space NY & Google BrandLab, Interior Design Corporate – Google/HLW International LLP, National September 11 Memorial Museum, Pop Ups, Display, Exhibit & Set Design - National September 11 Memorial Museum/Thinc Design and SpaceX Dragon, Product Design Technology - SpaceX.

The official trophy presentation will be held as the final event of the summit next Wednesday. Mr Bergin thanked and commended Advisory Panel members for their ongoing support as ambassadors and curators in addition to their judging role.

The New York Design Awards is a member of the [city] design awards program incorporating 7 global design capitals. Design100 is a global community of 65,000 design experts engaged in celebrating courage, recognising design excellence and growing demand for design, with a panel of 180 of the world’s leading design minds providing curatorial, judging and design summit direction.

The [city] design awards are held in New York, San Francisco, Chicago, London, Hong Kong, Melbourne and Sydney, providing the design community critical links into global markets and an efficient method to gain recognition in export markets.

“We are extremely proud and excited about the success of our New York program” said Mr Bergin “We look forward to its continuing growth and further involvement from leading design organisations, studios and brands as we work together to strengthen the design economy and increase awareness about the importance and unquestionable benefits of good design.”
