Project Overview

The layers in the space are a series of corresponding concepts of connection and expansion, the concept penetrating homologous idea and creating the relationships of bright and dark; inner and outer; static and dynamic; open and privacy. The design creates the stack and penetration in different spaces and finally presents a space with lighting and flowing.
At the beginning of the project, the focus of the design is demonstrating the elegance of life to the originally inorganic modern residence. The design modifies the disadvantages of the original building and endows more functions. The tailor-made plant wall has the ingenuity that people can live with the nature, and it is the live construction material that breathes. When the designer introduces abundant daylight by planting light-color epipremnum aureum with hydroponics in the transparent glass, the arrangement filters out the dirty air and the chaotic scene in the neighborhood. In the mean time of landscaping and introducing the sunlight, a unique greenery space for people to breath and relax freely was created.

Project Brief

Home is a mirror reflecting the inner soul of the occupant. It expresses occupant’s life attitude, and life should not be just having one appearance. What exactly can designers do about space? Designers believe that, due to the owner’s perception of life, cultural level, wealth status, etc., the two sides would discuss the performance of surface material. Through the way of facade layout, it could construct a beautiful background for the space. However, this case is a reversed thinking. After removing the dazzling background, is the spatial structure able to display more delicate contents of life? Just under such thinking, the design got rid of the frame for material performance. Besides the fact that flat surface design is corresponded to the owner’s daily needs, and facade materials and structural lines bring out the personality of the occupant, the design flows naturally with the story of “people”.

Project Need

The intention of design begins with communication, understanding the needs for life details. In fact, after stripping off the furniture and the decorative skin, the naked structure of this case is like a solemn confession. It exudes original power in the rough nature. It delivers a concern for space flows, including transparent vision, landscape extension, and harmonious interaction between the individual and the architecture. Yet, "light" is the most economical element, and also the most crucial tool to create the spatial atmosphere in this case. With "light", we can feel the space, we can know the scale, we can see the emotions, and most importantly, we can feel the original human nature. Therefore, making the users’ perspective of knowing the space go beyond the established imagination, the vision deep inside get to be realized.

Design Challenge

Natural light is used during day time, and set light is used during night in order to render the level of space, extending a corresponding concept of series and expansion. The idea is developed through the concept of penetrated corresponding, which is to produce correspondences in the space like light and dark, inner and outer, static and dynamic, and open and closed. Creating stacks and penetrations of different spatial axis, finally displays a space with lots of light and flow. With a main circulation penetrated through the house, the indoor is overflowed with daylight, and filled with landscape. Home no longer features only the ability for people to live in. Through special design, occupants can self-cultivate, and escape from the crowd. Here we can retrieve the pure appearance of life itself, and always blend in with nature and the environment.

Sustainability

This case mainly used stone materials. The natural texture of stone, is converted into the material of the ground and the vertical wall. It has an intense flavor of nature, and even a cold color texture. Via the correspondence of the rough and the smooth surface, the plain, rustic state and the space are closely linked across each field, forming a very strong effect. In order to avoid the overall atmosphere falling into the rut of warm or cold, white, dark color, or gray are layout in actuarial ratio, and light gray plays the character of linking, interweaving rich visual layers for the space. Design allows people to change the angle of understanding space. Designers believe that good design should allow people to give rise to reflections and understanding, touch deep hearts and guide people to where they belong. It leads users to go beyond the established imagination, and the deepest wishes can also be realized.
