Project Brief

Heartburst have been working with Arena for over a decade, and designed their new site last year. When we first began working with Arena, they were a commercial investment management company, with a portfolio of office buildings. Today, Arena have made a strategic pivot towards sustainable, community focussed infrastructure with a portfolio of childcare and healthcare facilities Australia-wide.

Project Innovation/Need

The challenge for the website redesign was to demonstrate Arena’s new ethos of “Better communities, together” while retaining a credible corporate image. Heartburst worked through this challenge with a discovery engagement focussed on human centred design. This enabled us to capture the needs of both prospective and existing investors and create an optimised information architecture.

Design Challenge

We were able to achieve an ideal blend of corporate and community by utilising early learning themed photography throughout the site content, while creating a clean look. While being guided by Arena’s corporate styleguide, we were able to introduce visual accents such as the Arena icon watermark while maintaining white space and wide-open layouts.

Particular attention was applied to key landing pages:

Our portfolio - Showcasing Arena’s Australia-wide property portfolio, including interactive charts and graphs.

Sustainability - Unpacks Arena’s commitment to sustainable investment and infrastructure. This includes alignment with global sustainability goals and annual sustainability reports.

Our purpose - Having made that strategic pivot toward community oriented infrastructure, it was important to take investors on this journey too. The our purpose page is designed to do just that.

User Experience

We were able to achieve an ideal blend of corporate and community by utilising early learning-themed photography throughout the site content while creating a clean look.




This award celebrates innovation and creativity in design of a unique user experience in the combination of text, audio, still images, animation, video, and interactivity content for websites. Consideration given to clarity of communication and the matching information style to audience.
