Project Brief

Transform the FWO website to help customers find the answers they need to take action, in a format they trust, at any time.

Create a site that is consistently accessible, credible and reliable to customers and stakeholders.

Project Innovation/Need

Employee/employer disputes are serious and stressful.

An employer often has legal assistance.
An employee rarely does.

The Fair Work Ombudsman website provides awareness and knowledge. It educates and facilitates in the most helpful and accessible way possible.

No fluff. No spin. And no dead ends.

The site provides practical and actionable knowledge. Dispelling myths. Building trust.

Design Challenge

A lot of misinformation exists around this issue – anecdotally and 'officially'. Employees, most often, don't know where they stand.

There is a need to not merely provide helpful information, but to help people find it.

Clear, helpful information architecture and design allows users to more quickly connect the information in front of them with their particular issue or need.

The Fair Work Ombudsman site now empowers, builds trust and provides answers.

Future Impact

Now mobile and tablet friendly, with clearer navigation pathways, architecture and design, users ability to access the information they require has increased greatly.

Notably, previous high levels of telephone enquiries have declined as a result.
