Project Brief

Every two weeks one child dies as a direct result of assault in Australia. Barnardos Australia needs improved awareness and support help to stop child abuse.

Our task was to bring the Barnardos Australia look and feel to life with a responsive website; engage all audiences; and to facilitate turning awareness into action in the form of sponsorship and donations.

Project Innovation/Need

For more than 130 years Barnardos Australia has been at the forefront of child protection, finding permanent solutions for Australian children in desperate need.

We reviewed and made sense of a near overwhelming amount Barnardos Australia brand research, with a view to implementing a unified brand hierarchy.

The resulting brand strategy provided a consistent brand platform that Barnardos used to develop a meaningful visual identity and website.

Design Challenge

The website redesign balances the needs of diverse audiences and stakeholders through a user-centred design process. Layout and functionality serve to position Barnardos Australia as a highly professional service provider and a thought leader in child protection through OOHC and Practice Development. The design allows people to access the site over multiple channels without the need for rewriting or editing information.

User Experience

Post-launch analytics showed that total site visits increased by 75%, while the way in which audiences engaged with the website showed tablet and mobile access increased from 34.9% to 44.2% of total site visits.

This award celebrates innovation and creativity in design of a unique user experience in the combination of text, audio, still images, animation, video, and interactivity content for websites. Consideration given to clarity of communication and the matching information style to audience.
