Project Overview
The projected required a creative solution which satisfied the requirements of all 3 clients; Sydney Airport, Coopers Beer & Emirates Retail Leisure Australia.
Originally boarding gate lounge area which was separated into 2 tenancies at the end of a typical airport white space within the Virgin Terminal.
The brief was to design a Hudsons Coffee and a Coopers Ale House Bar within those tenancies which complimented the terminal space & provided the correct brand presence to attract & hold customers.

Project Brief
There were several problems to consider;
1. how do you subliminally convince a traveller to either stop for a coffee of beer on their way home after a long day travelling and/or drawer customers from the other end of the terminal away from the other Bars & coffee outlets?
2. how do we create a bussing retail offering within a typically bland, low ceiling, bright airport area;
3. the outlet needed to function within a high traffic environment to service customers during peak times efficiently & quickly without adding further stress.
It was very important this destination space had a sense of separation (a break-away zone) from the rigors of travelling where customers can stop for a time & honestly feel they are not within an airport, relax & refresh. Recycled Timber along with historical Photos & Coloured lighting which changes colours, fading in/out randomly move around the ceiling from one light box another changing like a gentle kaleidoscope, truly creates a unique oasis. The careful selection of materials, textures, colour & lighting needed to be tactile, with an organic & natural feel, echoing the rich rural 150 year history of Coopers Beer Brewery & connect with people.Cheers
Project Innovation/Need
within this project use of Recycled Timber along with the historical Photos printed onto the ceiling light box features incorporating coloured RGB LED lighting which changes colours, fading in/out and randomly moving around the ceiling from light box to light box changing colours along the way like a gentle kaleidoscope, truly creates a unique experience.
Design Challenge
There were several problems to consider;
1. how do you subliminally convince a traveller to either stop for a coffee of beer on their way home after a long day travelling and/or drawer customers from the other end of the terminal away from the other Bars & coffee outlets?
2. how do we create a bussing retail offering within a low ceiling, typically bland, bright airport seating area; which looks like it's meant to be there without rather than this add-on.
3. the retail outlets needed to function within a high traffic environment to service customers during peak times efficiently & quickly without adding further stress.
Sustainability
We used HAVWOODS NSW recycled timber on most surfaces
