A quick glance across any trade library reveals bland and uninspired catalogues and manuals, in an industry where little thought/budget is given to graphic design of publications. Lincoln Sentry is determined to lead the change in creating a bold design statement to showcase its range of hardware products.

Project Brief

Lincoln Sentry operates as two divisions - Architectural Hardware and Cabinet Hardware - each focused on distinct product channels for the Australian market. Lincoln Sentry is proudly a member of DuluxGroup.

Being successful in such a wide variety of fields is all about having the right range to suit current and future trends. What Lincoln Sentry offer is simple - the best selection of quality products in 25 locations around Australia - underpinned by expert knowledge and advice.

The development of the 2 volume catalogue provides a visual guide that showcases all the best hardware sourced from around the globe to fulfil the needs of our customers around the country.

Project Innovation/Need

The majority of product catalogues within the industry focuses on volumes that are a mere ensemble of products and technical drawings, with very little thought placed on the design or usability for the reader/end consumer.

Our goal was simple; to deliver 2 volumes that would stand head & shoulders above the competition in terms of aesthetics, quality and clarity of product information.

Design emphasis has been placed on the cover design to further strengthen the corporate identity of Lincoln Sentry that can be seen across publications, showroom displays, through to the exterior paint scheme of the buildings.

Design Challenge

While the goal was simple enough the timing & content was the biggest challenge, any designer would understand the difficulty in receiving and compiling of content, as it ultimately forms part of the overall design. The sheer volume of information was the biggest challenge in this project, the Cabinet Hardware volume stands at an impressive 864 pages and the Architectural Hardware at 640 pages. With strong project management in-house a clear work flow was established from conception to avoid potential blockages.

Effectiveness

Despite the accelerated growth and accessibility of electronic publications via computers or tablets, there will always be a demand for physically bounded editions; a physical publication is an irreplaceable asset for Lincoln Sentry and its customers.

When a screen is switched off, your brand is out of sight and forgotten. The catalogue will remain on the shelves of specifiers, the desks of cabinet makers and designers for years to come. The investment into the catalogues will serve to reinforce the Lincoln Sentry brand as the industry leader.
