Project Brief

From the very beginning, this acclaimed design duo had a clear vision for Serif TV. They wanted to escape the rules and expectations of what a television should be. By allowing this to be their guiding principle, they created a piece that is as individual as it is relevant to the everyday. Learn how they brought Serif TV to life from initial sketches to final product.

Project Innovation/Need

Thorough design means that even the smallest features hold incredible importance. Serif TV bears the hallmarks of meticulous design throughout – select a hotspot to discover the features that make Serif TV unique.

Form follows function, and with Serif TV you’ll find functional elegance that really sets it apart. When viewed in profile its sleek shape cuts an “I” silhouette, which along with giving Serif TV its name, also allows you to use it as a shelf for books or precious trinkets.

The compelling simplicity of Serif TV’s menu mirrors its physical design. Curtain Mode applies a filter over the content giving an abstract impression of what is going on behind. When active, viewers can access simple services such as a clock, Bluetooth speakers, apps and their photo gallery.

This award celebrates creative and innovative design for either a component or overall product. Consideration given to aspects that relate to human usage, aesthetics, selection of components and materials, and the resolution of assembly, manufacturing and the overall function.
