Project Overview

We were engaged by Sixtree to redevelop their visual identity, and to revamp their online presence to showcase Sixtree’s experience, knowledge, and service offerings.

This process involved close collaboration between Sixtree and Evolution 7's design team, getting to the core of who Sixtree is and what they're about. Bold decisions taken with typography and colour lead to the development of a striking identity - and one that now represents who Sixtree is. The launch of the identity coincided with our launch of an interim website featuring the new identity and vision for the brand, while we continued our work with Sixtree to develop their new website.

The subsequent launch of Sixtree’s new website delivers the vision of a unique and distinctive company stepping up as leaders in their field. Sixtree is now able to feature the full range of services offered, introduce users to the Sixtree team, and showcase the depth and breadth of the knowledge and expertise of the team through articles and blog posts. With deep social media integration and highlighting activity on Twitter and Linked In, users are presented with a number of ways to engage with Sixtree.

Project Brief

Our brief was develop a fresh, engaging and modern identity for Sixtree, and bring their web presence up to date.

IT integration and architecture can be a dry and dusty world, and Sixtree needed a modern online identity to reflect their comprehensive, adaptable and personal solutions – joined up thinking that helps companies unleash the power of business systems and applications.

An Australian owned and operated IT consultancy, Sixtree also wanted to highlight their local sensibilities and the ‘real people’ who work closely with their clients.

Project Need

Develop a striking online presence reflecting the company and the industry: the bold and simple use of colour and typography is at the heart of the Sixtree identity, and is the foundation of the website look and feel. In the digital attributes of the font, and the pixel image treatment of images, the website uses established connotations of IT and the digital space.

Highlight the real people behind the brand: the team profile section of the site showcases the full Sixtree team, with a dynamic interface revealing each team member’s bio and a call to action to connect with the person on Linked In. The header images on each page are shots taken in and about the Sixtree offices.

Showcase the knowledge and expertise on staff: the community section of the site houses the articles and blog posts created by Sixtree staff, with the author featured in both the list view and in the article/post itself.

Design Challenge

Sixtree needed to stand out from the crowd and develop an online presence that stacked up with their experience and the standing that their partners and principal consultants held in the industry.

At Evolution 7, we love the opportunity to work with a client on such a significant revamp of their online and offline identity, and the challenge presented by Sixtree management was one we couldn't turn down. Our work with Sixtree spanned several projects – the development of a new visual identity, the design and development of an interim site, and the design and develop of the new website.

The nature of Sixtree’s services is detailed and content-dense. We developed an engaging approach to communicating key messages, managing content pages, with strong headings and subheadings, and the ability to collapse down detailed content into more manageable chunks.

As IT guys, Sixtree like getting into the engine room. The CMS provides flexible controls over content, including the ability to create accordion controls to manage dense and detailed content. Customised breakout content styles allows the flexibility to highlight valuable content such as testimonials and quotes.

Sustainability

Evolution 7 sourced the project team from entirely within the Melbourne CBD, and all use foot power, pedal power, and public transport to get to work. Team meeting refreshments were sourced from a local cafe.
