Project Overview

Whether it's your domestic tabby or an exotic bird, animals can be very particular about what they will ingest.

Treating them with conventional medication can be a frustrating and difficult for the vet and for the owner. If they don't like the smell or the taste of something they will walk away.

Slade Compoundia specialise in preparing drugs that will be ingested by the most discerning animal – pastes for ‘Sylvester’ that taste like Tuna or liver for ‘Rover’. Compoundia can even make Chocolate flavoured medication for your Macaw who is used to eating the finer things in life.

Project Brief

Slade Health, one of Australia’s fastest growing pharmacedical companies appointed Davison to partner them on their expansion journey, with a brief to re-brand their portfolio of companies – Slade Pharmacy Services, Slade Compoundia, Slade Health and Galen. The Slade Compoundia brand identity was the first in the range to be developed and delivered the design platform for the other brands in the companies portfolio. The objective was to create an identity that was modern, clean and had personality to ensure it was memorable and unique.

Project Need

We took this opportunity to develop an identity system that was not only highly distinctive but introduce a strong personality that in the main is lacking in the pharmacedical category. We developed a distinctive visual language system so the brand could be easily recognised and is set apart form competitors who typically had a predictable identity. Photography of animals played a key role as the business is about the end user not science labs and chemicals. The branding system was integrated into their head office, all their collateral, signage, manuals and above the line communications.

Design Challenge

To create an identity for products that is typically not that exciting and tap into the emotion of animal owners and lovers.
