Project Brief
Extensive market research into the lighting needs of offices and other workspaces informed the design of the T900 H Linear LED track light. Preliminary findings showed that thoughtful placement and design of task lighting can drastically improve productivity, as well as providing a sense of overall wellbeing.
The Brightgreen Design Team were tasked with developing a track light that would complement modern interior design, while providing the efficiency and flexibility required for modern, dynamic work environments. A special emphasis was placed on enhancing visual comfort by reducing glare.
Project Innovation/Need
The Brightgreen T900 H Linear LED track light was designed to evoke a sense of calmness by visually integrating with the rectilinear form of its mounting track and the clean lines found in modern interior design.
By shielding the luminous elements of the fitting using advanced optics, the product reduces the occurrence of light spill, providing directional and controlled lighting.
Available in either a 10° tight or 40° broad beam angle options, the T900 H Linear be reoriented in any direction – allowing users to update their lighting to suit changing lighting requirements over time.
Design Challenge
A key design challenge in the development of the T900 H Linear track light was achieving the product’s minimalist look, while ensuring the fitting would stay in place without the screws and other mechanisms generally required for track light adjustments.
In order to achieve these two objectives, the Brightgreen Design Team incorporated a constant friction hinge – allowing the light to be easily adjusted while providing just the right amount of haptic feedback for the user to know it will stay in place. The hinge is virtually unaffected by wear, adding to the longevity of the product and eliminating the need for adhesives.
The quality of the light itself was also a key consideration. Tru-Colour technology was incorporated in order to provide lighting that came as close to replicating natural Australian sunlight as possible. Tru-Colour is an advanced metric that incorporates high levels of more colours on the visual spectrum to better represent skin tones, colours and interior details.
Sustainability
As part of Brightgreen’s B Corp certification, the company is committed to meeting a higher standard of social and environmental performance, transparency and accountability. Through the sustainable design of products like the T900 H Linear LED track light, Brightgreen hopes to reduce the carbon footprint of households and commercial spaces worldwide.
The flexible form of the T900 H Linear reduces the likelihood of the product becoming obsolete as interiors change over the years by allowing users to easily update their lighting schemes.
Made from 98% recyclable materials, including recycled aluminium, the T900 H Linear is designed to last for up to 80,000hrs and comes backed by a 7-year warranty.
