Project Overview

This project is a new mansion, located at the city center, which is designed for two generations composed of the parents and three children. On the basis of the ideas from traditional architectures, the designer separates the active and static areas by differentiating specifically the public and private spaces.

Project Brief

This project is about a residence in a new mansion, in which is designed for the family members including parents and three children. The porch, with the simple and graceful atmosphere, has become the central part that transforms different moods either staying out- or indoor, by furnishing the interior space with light-colored veneers wooden walls, white ceiling, black rocks, dark woodworks, and black-mirror cabinet. The public areas, composed of the living room, dining room, and opened kitchen, is located at the central space where is present with the aesthetics of conflictions and demonstrating the design ideas, by furnishing the interior space with the delicate TV wall made of stones, the walls and ceilings with the texture of sycamore, the back mirrors, hexagon floor tiles, and eccentric furniture, the skill connecting distinct materials.

Learned from the idea of traditional architecture in the presence of a courtyard surrounded by buildings, the designer places on the center of the building the public areas, such as the porch, living room, dining room, and kitchen, and on the both sides the spaces with different mechanisms, such as the main bedroom, and bedrooms, the designs strengthening the different mechanisms among spaces. Such design, in the meantime, also presents the different atmospheres, for the residents’ requirements, by connecting the disconnected spaces that are delicately designed.

Design Challenge

Learned from the idea of traditional architecture in the presence of a courtyard surrounded by buildings, the designer places on the center of the building the public areas, such as the porch, living room, dining room, and kitchen, and on the both sides the spaces with different mechanisms, such as the main bedroom, and bedrooms, the designs strengthening the different mechanisms among spaces. Such design, in the meantime, also presents the different atmospheres, for the residents’ requirements, by connecting the disconnected spaces that are delicately designed. In addition to presenting the multiple experiences in the perspectives of configurations, the designer, who uses the ideas of contrasts made from different materials and structures, creates the beauty of conflictions in the space specifically by integrating the distinct rocks, woods, mirrors, and irons.

Sustainability

In the bright inner space, the designer creates the atmosphere of “home”, which is modest, warm, and graceful, by furnishing the space with the dark walls and floor pavements, and the white ceilings. On the basis of the style of contemporary design, the designer ingenuously combines composedly the different elements and creates harmonious visual by using delicate panels, rocks, patterns on cloth, screens with cracked patterns, and etc., the design making the residence genuinely interesting while giving a new definitions for life.




Open to all international projects this award celebrates innovative and creative building interiors, with consideration given to space creation and planning, furnishings, finishes, aesthetic presentation and functionality. Consideration also given to space allocation, traffic flow, building services, lighting, fixtures, flooring, colours, furnishings and surface finishes.
