Project Need
The kitchen, the most important part of this house, is designed into an open space in which both the children can finish their homework and the parents can secure the kids’ safety. The ceiling above the dining table, in the meantime, is designed into a shape of oval with an inner circle. The oval part of the ceiling reconciles the issue of discontinuous space by utilizing the crisscross effect. The circle, meanwhile, represents both the image of three generations under the same roof, and the characteristics of implications and classicism.
Design Challenge
Shu-Ping Lin, the designer of this project, has expressed that because of the greenery trees outside the house, the bedrooms are decorated with blue and green ceiling trims that integrate the outdoor and indoor space. When coming in, people will see a TV wall that is furnished by grey glass and titanium crystal stainless steel, and under which is a marble drawer that creates the light and floating image throughout the light projections. The TV wall, designed by a skill of crisscross and symmetry, resolve the issue about the asymmetrical interior configurations.
Sustainability
The two class shutters on the bedside wall balance the whole space by using the symmetrical skill as well. The most amazing part of the house, is nothing more but two French folding doors on the third floor behind which the tall maples, by the side of the terrace, create the comfortable atmosphere in this place.
