Project Overview
Pajama created the original WowBox app for Telenor in Bangladesh in 2014. The expansion programme in 2015 took a modest bulletin board and turned it into a lifestyle magazine that gives user rewards for interaction with sponsored content. This was a big hit.

Project Brief
To design a user experience targeted at the youth segment combining free lifestyle content (e.g. trends, what's new, gossip, travel information) and sponsored ad content. Users who interact with the sponsored content can collect in-app tokens to exchange for extra data or discounts at restaurants and other venues. The app also features games and competitions, providing new prizes to win on a daily basis.
Project Need
In a low-ARPU market data is seen as expensive. By giving younger mobile users more data for interacting with sponsored content the operator can make mobile data use more accessible and encourage long term adoption in a key segment.
User Experience
WpwBox had to be fun and easy to use. We designed it like a toy box. The success of our work is evidenced by the usage at 1 month after launch of Wowbox 2.0.
• attracting 14,000 new users per day
• selling a product every five seconds
• receiving 800,000 clicks a day
• 4.0 star rating on Google Play
WowBox grew its user base to 1.5 million in 9 months and is still growing.
Project Marketing
We developed templates for advertising and made a film to promote the new concept of earning goodies and free data by interacting with content.
Project Privacy
Because it is a telco app WowBox does not require additional information from users so this was never raised as an issue.
