Project Overview
HelloFresh approached ThirdWay to create their new London Head Quarters. It was key that we were not just creating an office but their new home.
The space was to be 100% unique to them, to encourage productivity and ensure their company culture is at the front of their day to day workings.
The future was key to the business, therefore the design needed to make sure that was allowed for.

Project Brief
The client wanted a space that reflected their company values and brand. Being a food based company and working with various local farmers, we wanted it to have a real rustic vibe about it, using raw materials wherever we could. We wanted to create a home from home feel. The company is growing drastically, so while they are subletting two of the floors we wanted to kit the show space out so that it could absorb the ever growing number of staff at HelloFresh.
The architecture of the building also has an impact on the interaction of their team between floors – it was key that the design encouraged interaction.
Project Innovation/Need
At ThirdWay we like to immerse ourselves into the worlds of our clients and in this instance it has meant diving into the world of cooking and everything that it stands for - Amazing ingredients, prime cuts of meat, large pots and wooden spoons. The things that essentially remind you of home.
For us, after meeting the HelloFresh team, it became
quickly apparent that this wasn't just any old office, but a home away from home surrounding the ethos of food. That’s why in the design we have set out to create a cosy, homely feel using rustic finishes, shabby chic inspired
elements and reclaimed features.
We want the space to tell a story; timber floors that are likely to be older than us and used copper pots that have cooked over a 1000 meals. Not to mention a library area full of cook books, vegetable growing tips and ‘how to lay a table’ guides.
We have meeting booth cladded in reclaimed timber that are raised from the floor, log cabin esque meeting rooms, high working tables and cosy seating areas.
Design Challenge
The internal budget set by the HelloFresh management team was a lot lower than initially anticipated so we underwent numerous design developments and workshops to ensure we met that budget but did not lose the integrity of the design.
The kitchen installation in an open office – we had to design a bespoke ventilation system that was not noisy, would not impact the vista across the kitchen but would reduce any cooking smells from dispersing through the office.
The structural elements to the container and the meeting room were free standing items, so we worked closely with a structural engineer to ensure we could achieve a meeting room with a roof and with crittall glass effect walls. The container itself was also a structure we built from scratch to ensure the roof was habitable and could be used as meeting space. This was then constructed from the inside out and cladded in the effect of a container.
Sustainability
We used reclaimed scaffolding wood to create the bleacher, shelving and all furniture you see on the ground floor. The cladding to the kitchen units is also reclaimed scaffolding boards white washed. Following on from that we used the same pallets that deliver food to the HelloFresh Warehouse to clad the columns and meeting rooms you see within the space.
