Project Overview
Loyalty app is true multi-partner app that is ready to shake up the rewards industry; a brand new take on the traditional loyalty program, with huge aspirations.
Rather than having a loyalty program per vendor, this powerful system provides benefits across an array of partner businesses. Users can earn points on everyday expenses, such as rent, bills or when shopping for home accessories for example. This is money that customers are already spending, and they're rewarded with additional points that they can spend like cash! It's a great deal for consumers and a powerful tool for businesses.

Project Brief
The initial brief was to develop an advanced but easy-to-use loyalty program that supports a wide range of transactions including buying, selling, earning and gifting points across a variety of industries.
Ronnie Elhaj, Founder of Loyalty app and leading property group Nicheliving, developed the program to respond to consumers' frustration at not getting true value from their existing loyalty programs.
The complexity in airline programs and supermarket schemes are often confusing and can be difficult to determine what value you're actually getting from it. Loyalty app wanted a far more transparent and user-friendly approach. Users needed to be able to earn points, immediately understand their value and use them instantly, as if they're as good as cash.
Consideration had to be given to the fact that transactions may be generated in a mobile app, on the web, or third party services via the exposed API.
The program works with partners somewhat neglected by other well-known programs, as well as working with every day household and big ticket expense partners.
Project Need
Many pre-existing loyalty programs are either specific to one vendor only, or can take a long time combined with large spends to get any sort of return. Loyalty app changes this completely - rewarding consumers for money they would already be paying out on a multitude of expenses. This is focused initially on the home vertical, later extending into other industries.
This model of working with big ticket items, means users can earn a high volume of points for their expenses. Imagine the difference in points when you are rewarded for paying for your rent, as opposed to a cup of coffee. The points are dramatically greater and they are immediately useable at participating partner businesses.
Loyalty programs are proven to increase customer retention, increase profits and build trust with consumers. Loyalty helps businesses to work without POS systems; removes the hassle and cost of creating their own rewards program; is a subscription-free service; and acts as an incredible marketing tool for attracting new customers.
The scope of supported transactions and the ability to generate them on all platforms is also truly innovative, allowing all types of businesses to join a single massive cloud-based loyalty program.
User Experience
Loyalty app is ever-evolving to meet the needs of consumers and businesses. Usage by stakeholders drove multiple rounds of revision before a public beta commenced to allow wider review. The edition released just this month includes a significant enhancement to the UI and UX based on this feedback to bring the core functionality to the centre of the apps, and streamlining the operation - either removing features that weren't being used or changing the workflow to match a more natural intuitive process.
Users of Loyalty app simply sign up by entering their details or through Facebook. They are led through a tutorial, explaining how best to use the app and start getting rewarded!
To earn points, the user needs to scan a QR code at an authorised merchant.
To buy goods or services at an authorised merchant, the user can use points, money or a combination of both. Their transaction history is clearly displayed so there's no confusion around it.
A 'Locations & Offers' section lets users search for participating merchants and discovering any new offers available to them.
Bill payments can be automatically debited from a user's account, making it the most streamlined and easy rewards system on offer.
If they wish to, users can also purchase points to use at participating partners.
Project Marketing
Loyalty App's marketing strategy is smart and complex.
Combining social media, SEO, SEM, TV, radio and other traditional media, Loyalty app are running a big budget campaign in their home ground of Western Australia. This will later expand into other regions.
There is a full marketing team employed by Loyalty app, spanning across all skill-sets in digital and traditional advertising.
The app has built-in social integration as well as a referral rewards system which is working successfully to support user-driven growth through word of mouth.
Other in-built marketing efforts include integration for:
- Firebase (analytics)
- App Flyer (tracking)
- AdWords (tracking app installs)
- Google Tag Manager (dynamic tracking code allowing updates without having to resubmit the apps to the app stores)
Project Privacy
A privacy policy is provided during registration and login from both the mobile and web applications. No confidential information is sought that is not required.
User passwords are stored with high security one way encryption.
The app and management system is hosted on a secure AWS server.
Limited banking details stored in our system follow ISO standards, and we use a reputable third party merchant gateway.
Several steps have been taken to ensure sensitive information is kept secure and private:
- Loyalty app meets the highest level of compliance according to the PCI Data Security Standards.
- The payment provider used conducts periodic security audits, both automated and manual.
- Credit card data is stored in an isolated system and is completed encrypted. Card information is referenced from a token, which is not derived from the card details in any way.
- SSL is employed to ensure any requests made to the payment gateway are forced to use HTTPS.
- A specialised javascript library is used to allow the app to accept payments without ever handling credit card data.
