RMIT’s Design Hub will provide ideas and answers to the unspoken questions of how the challenges of the metropolis era will be met, in a new exhibition titled Occupied.

The exhibition brings together local and international artists and architects to present proposals for housing more with less, retrofitting, adapting, and repurposing existing structures and environments.

It is estimated that by 2015, 70 percent of the world’s population will be urban, and Australia’s major cities are expected to almost double in size.

It is not yet known where or how we will cater for future housing demands. Occupied anticipates the critical design approaches, ideas and strategies of the imminent future.

Occupied will be on display from 29 July to 24 September at RMIT’s Design Hub.
