Today, over 74,000 applications have been built and deployed using OutSystems Platform and over seven million end users leverage apps built using OutSystems. This year independent analyst firm, Ovum named OutSystems a Market Leader in their Decision Matrix for Mobile App Dev Platforms. OutSystems scored exceptionally high in areas of feature coverage, execution and revenue growth.

Project Need

The OutSystems Platform is the only non-proprietary, cloud-based or on-premises rapid application delivery solution purpose-built for enterprise developers. It offers uniquely flexible application development capabilities as evidenced when the world’s largest charitable floating hospital, Mercy Ships utilised OutSystems Platform.

Mercy Ships created a custom online application that has led to a 20 percent increase in volunteer registrations for the charity in just two months. Bringing free medical care to some of the world’s poorest people, Mercy Ships is almost entirely staffed by volunteers and it needed an online recruitment tool to help speed the volunteer application process.

However, there were no packaged solutions that offered the recruiting tools Mercy Ships were looking for so they utilised OutSystems Platform to develop a bespoke, personalised application in less than 2 months with only 2 members of staff.
OutSystems was selected because it allowed for out-of-the-box integration with the charity’s existing database. It also featured an intuitive interface and a quick learning curve that allowed Mercy Ships to tap internal resources and speed deployment, while simultaneously decreasing the project’s cost. Further, its cross-browser functionality would mean reaching even more potential volunteers, essential to Mercy Ships continued growth.

Today, thanks to OutSystems Platform, prospective volunteers are able to submit their applications the same day, taking an average of one and two hours to complete an application, while some are able to complete the form in just 30 minutes, depending on the position for which they are applying.

With access to the powerful enterprise app store, OutSystems Forge, users can add native capabilities like geolocation, camera, notifications and on-device app integration among many other open source connectors.

Project Privacy

OutSystems Platform utilises the hybrid cloud to ensure complete security and privacy for all its clients while still enabling the rapid application advantages.

A great example is AXA, one of the biggest insurance companies in the world. AXA developed an online broker portal, Eserve using OutSystems Platform. Eserve is a web-based portal, accessible via both desktop and mobile device, that allows brokers to view all the claims they have in progress on AXA policies at their convenience, 24 hours a day, seven days a week.

Broker data and client details are all confidential but thanks to OutSystems hybrid cloud all personal information or sensitive data could be stored on site with the added security of knowing the data is local to your organisation. OutSystems also offers solutions that use only the private cloud to ensure that no data need enter a public cloud.

OutSystems Platform enabled AXA to develop phenomenally good user interfaces for PCs, mobiles and tablets making Eserve one of the easiest to use, useful and easily accessible claims systems for brokers and policy holders in the market today. Eserve will enable brokers to quickly access the information they need, whatever device they are using, easily adapting to the broker’s work style, rather than the other way around.
