Project Brief

Owning or renting a property can be a stressful experience especially if you don’t have all of the important details to hand. The iProperty log aims to take the pressure off you - allowing you to store all of the information in a single place for when you need it.

Imagine you have a water leak? How long does it take for you to find the source of the problem and act on it? Do you have your plumbers number to hand and do you know how to stop the leak in the short term? The iProperty log can be accessed both on and offline from a variety of devices. Users are presented with a clean and simple interface where they can store and find a host of information with just a few clicks. This means that rather than taking a few hours or even days to resolve the problem, you have access to everything from finding a contractor, your household fittings - like a stopcock - and logging an issue right at the tip of your finger.

In terms of features the iProperty log also provides a host of options for its users. These include multiple tiers of administration, allowing you to provide limited access to the application, assign temporary access to specific contractors or even overwrite information on the system. This gives you, the users full control over your property or group of properties.

Project Need

iProperty Log is an essential tool for property owners, tradesmen, tenants, letting agents, in fact the application is suitable for anyone who is interested in real estate and wants a way to keep track of property information and communication.

Typically a paper based record or central database is used to keep an accurate itinerary of a property. However this is rarely accessible when you need it. iProperty log includes a central database that is made available across multiple devices and to multiple users. The data syncs across platforms to ensure the user always has the latest information wherever they are and whatever device they are using.

We believe that iProperty Log is one of the first - if not the first - multi-platform, multi-device property maintenance and information apps available in the world. Unlike paper based records iProperty log can seamlessly scale whether you have one or 100,000 properties, the app can help you stay on-top of all your data and tasks.
iProperty Log offers a unique combination of features - not to be found in any other app. These include:

Record key information about individual or multiple properties
Create live emergency contact lists
List items, photos, files and tasks to stay on-top of maintenance and tasks
Contact trades and other users at the touch of a button to alert them of new tasks
Share your property information securely across multiple devices
Automated task reminders sent by email to ensure tasks are completed on time

User Experience

iProperty Log is designed to make it easy for the user to access information about their properties, whether they have just one or many. In order to create the optimal user experience initial designs were based on an in-depth wireframing process. Each interface across mobile, tablet and desktop has been designed to provide the user the best set of features and functions. The system is built using HTML5 and native code to ensure the best delivery of the product.

The mobile versions have been optimised to be light-weight and minimise the load on the device. Key processes and management functions have been retained within the web app to ensure best performance across devices.

The system syncs data across the multiple platforms to ensure users have access to their account whatever device they are on. Users need to be able to assign rights and access to their properties for other businesses or individuals, so we built this feature into the system to ensure each property owner can provide the right level of access to another user of the application.

Like any app or system iProperty Log requires ongoing development and improvement. The product has already undergone a number of updates and is set to have a number of additional developments in the future, which will be focused on speed, usability and enhancing the user experience. User feedback forms a central part of this development process and drives the product roadmap.

Project Marketing

The property management industry is still relatively traditional, with predominantly paper based processes. The high end of the market is occupied by expensive property management agencies that manage everything from rental through to inventory, and the lower end of the market is dominated by smaller organisations with predominantly paper based processes. It’s the smaller organisations and individuals who are more likely to self manage their property portfolio and this is where the use of technology comes into its own. Consumers are increasingly demanding real time information exchange, iProperty Log provides a resource for this and also restricts the need for paperwork with centralised information.
The key challenge in marketing the application is ensuring it meets the needs of its variety of users:
Individual property owners
Landlords
Estate agents
Property management companies
Letting agents
Commercial property owners
There is a wide range of applications on the market, but none that include the range of features offered by iProperty log, with this in mind it’s vital that the premium positioning of the application is reflected. The app market and average prices were also a key consideration with app store prices typically much less than you would expect from a software equivalent.
Marketing activity focused on the London property market initially. From here the aim is to diversify as quickly as possible across national and global boundaries with a combination of activity including, direct marketing, corporate PR, features in property publications, property events and social media.

Project Privacy

The sensitivity of data held within the iProperty Log application is relatively low in comparison to some other applications and databases. However, there are still a number of considerations that have been made in regard to securing the application and its users. Each user has an account secured by a login (standard email username and password). The database is secured using a premium hosting provider and transport layer security (SSL) is in place. In addition to this the hosting environment has load balancing in place, which enables our team to rate limit and protect the application from malicious attack.

In regard to user permissions, each property owner can assign access to tradesman and other users to access their property details. The sub-account access can be restricted to specific properties to ensure each account is only able to access the data relevant to them, including any data that may be sensitive.
