Project Brief

When it comes to building work, the public are in a difficult position. Traditional social groups have moved online and most people don't know where to find or how to trust their tradesmen. Our platform builds reputations and the word of mouth community by matching clients with socially recommended professionals.

Being a tradesperson is also not easy, it’s a varied business with little security. We want to help by providing useful services to help with marketing, administration and accounting without the overheads and inflexibility of a company structure. Letting tradesmen get on with what they do best, building.

Project Need

Currently all the online solutions are based upon two models; Lead generation whereby tradespersons buy contact details relating to jobs OR directories whereby the tradespersons pay a subscription to be listed.

Neither of these models actually make the experience of forming a working relationship between a client and contractor easier. Not only that but they cost the tradesperson with no guaranteed results.

1ROOF adds value to the whole process by helping the tradesman much in the same way that Airbnb helps the seller and inturn that helps the buyer.

We provide the tradespersons with the ability to better manage their work by supporting them with technology.

We are also integrating social recommendations so you will be able to see which builders friends of yours have used by logging in with facebook or linked in. (this feature will be released next month)

User Experience

Our whole approach is to simplify the stressful experience of having to hire a contractor.

We put effort into making the customer feel comfortable. A good example of this is that we insist all tradespersons upload a profile photo of themselves and use a real name so when a client contacts them they can picture who they are dealing with.

We try to keep the user journey through our site as simple as possible so they dont get lost and actually get what they came for.

We also put a lot of emphasis into removing information that clients often don't understand. We believe that less is more the majority of the time.

Project Marketing

We are launching social recommendations in the next month. This will allow users and tradesmen to easily share their profiles with friend as well as allowing customers to see who used who.

Much of our model is based upon word of mouth so once again its about keeping things simple and putting effort into making sure people have a good experience that they then share.

We are also in the product-market test phase so will be ironing out small bugs and testing it thoroughly before we used paid marketing at any scale.

Project Privacy

We never give out anyones contact details directly and have had legal terms set out to protect both markets.
