Project Overview
Surely you would love your little one eating off such a beautiful bamboo dinner set. Love Mae Bamboo Dinnerware sets are made up of quality bamboo items that are perfect for you and your little love. The quality is amazing and of course the design is too cute for words.
Our dinner sets are biodegradable but not disposable. They will see your little one through many mealtimes but when they've outgrown it. Rest assured you can dispose of it with a clean conscience (or even better pass it on!).

Project Brief
Originally Love Mae had beautiful melamine sets that we sold. It was after seeing a documentary on the 'plastic soup' in the Pacific, an island forming with the materials that won't break down and killing all living creatures in its path, that I realised we can't be a part of this in history. We went in search of a new material that was 100% biodegradable. Meanwhile research had been conducted on the seriously negative effects of BPA and phthalates in our bodies.
It was a delight to find bamboo dinnerware. Not only are these chemicals not present, but it is 100% bio degradable.
And so we begun the design and manufacturing of our bamboo dinnerware for children.
Project Innovation/Need
There a few levels to our bamboo dinnerware that we consider exciting.
- 100% bio degradable
- no BPA or phthalates are present in its ingredients
- designed for the use of children
- aesthetically modern and appealing to both adults and children
Design Challenge
Our bamboo dinnerware was derived from the markets needs both environmentally and aesthetically.
In Australia we are finding the consumer has such a thirst for a modern eco product that doesn't compromise on its aesthetic design.
To date much of the children's products on the market are licensed design which is not appealing in a modern parents home. There is also a consciousness in supporting small local business.
We'd like to think it was our research and great timing that has made this product so successful.
Sustainability
Its a wonderful thing that our product is so very sustainable as it is a bi-product of the bamboo industry.
We are very proud that bamboo is not harvested for our product, instead we use the 'leftovers' from products such as clothing, sheets and other bamboo products.
Maker Design - Materials
Some projects can only exist due to new
materials, others thrive as the combination of new and traditional materials
intersect. We're looking for projects that show a master has furnished
brilliance from basic materials.
