Project Overview
Arnold Bloch Leibler (ABL) is an Australian commercial law firm with offices in Melbourne and Sydney. The firm has been in operation for over 60 years and prides itself on being a “small firm with a big firm reputation”. ABL took a leap of faith with the design of this site, daring to break the mould of legal industry conservatism. The result was a striking design with a professional edge that pays homage to the history of the firm.

Project Brief
The goal of this project was to create a website with a modern look and feel, to make it responsive, and to give staff a content management system that was flexible, robust, and simple to use.
Project Innovation/Need
Before working with Get Started, ABL had a website that was over a decade old and very much in need of an overhaul. The challenge was to create something that was a reflection of the firm itself – a balance of forward-thinking contemporary values and professionalism.
Design Challenge
The main challenge was trying to find the right balance between contemporary design and tradition. The site also had to cater to a diverse audience, from potential and existing clients to young, digital-native law graduates.
User Experience
The standout feature of this site from the end user’s perspective is its design. Get Started was very cognisant of the need to capture just the right tone with the site’s look and feel. It had to be progressive, yet still authoritative. It had to feel modern while also paying heed to the firm’s history. To ABL’s credit, it embraced this challenge and gave Get Started the freedom to lead it into completely new design territory – right down to an evolution of the logo. In addition, the site is now responsive, which is especially important for the highly mobile graduate market.
From a ‘client user’ point of view, a variety of page types have been set up which allow ABL to have full control over content in a straightforward, easy-to-manage format. A number of inter-module relationships have also been created to allow multiple areas of the site to be updated simultaneously.
Although it is too early to discern any significant changes in user behaviour, the site has been very well received by internal and external stakeholders.
