WINNERS ANNOUNCED 2013 Melbourne Design Awards

🕒 24/10/2013

Celebrating courage in design from both commissioners and creators, the Melbourne Design Awards are pleased to announce that the National Australia Bank, NAB, wins the Design Champion Award at the 2013 Melbourne Design Awards.

The Design Champion Award is presented to the most significant body of work in the Awards. This year NAB was the commissioner of three innovative advertising campaigns for its brand, the NAB Traveller Card Campaign; NAB Split Banking Campaign and NAB EOFY Campaign.

Charlwood Design (best design studio <5), Butterfly (best design studio 20+) and Davidson Branding (best design studio 5-20) have each been announced as the Best Creators in 2013 Melbourne Design Awards and Uppercup as Best Start-Up. These were announced by Mark Bergin, Awards Director, design100 on Wednesday 23 October at the Aer Bar, Melbourne.

'The Design Champion Award recognises bold and an innovative body of work. NAB brought a range of campaigns that challenged traditional thinking in banking with their fresh approach, says Mark Bergin, Awards Director. 'We have grown and capitalised on the momentum from last year and have a diverse and very talented range of winners. I am delighted to be able to recognise and to celebrate their achievements.'

Along with these, 50 category winners were also announced on the evening.

Winners include: Buro North for the RMIT Swanston Academic Building Wayfinding; b.sirius, Textile + Surface Design, Fashion; Nourish Brands for Expresso Italiano, Graphic Design, Publication and Swatchmate, Product Design Concept & Prototype amongst many other inspirational design projects.

The winners and Best of Awards were based on over 4,500 ratings from the marketplace, industry and judging panel.

The full list of winners can be found at www.melbournedesignawards.com.au

Category winners have been determined by a combination of the judging panel, industry and marketplace ratings, all ratings for each project are aggregated and averaged. Awards are provided to the leading entry with the highest average. This ensures that the Awards showcase the best of the design industry as determined by the market, industry and the panel.

The Melbourne Design Awards form part of the City Design Awards, a global multi-disciplinary awards program open across 5 categories – Marketplace, Space, Visual, Object, and Experience and feature a wide range of sub-categories covering excellence across all design areas, including products and furnishings, architecture, interiors, landscape design, advertising, graphic design and digital media.

114 design projects were selected as finalists in the 2013 Melbourne Design Awards which this year attracted over 400 entrants.

All winners of the 2013 Melbourne Design Awards are available for interview.
