Project Brief

To convey these attributes, the digital platform we were assigned to produce had to embody Site of Hope’s vision and purpose, with the intention to encourage individuals to get involved with the initiative, and to build curiosity and interest for any upcoming events. A fully immersive experience was utilised, placing the user at the creative heart of the project. To achieve this, the latest web technologies were employed – with clever use of video, deep-etched imagery, CSS and parallax animations all working seamlessly to accurately portray the creative outcomes the Site of Hope team have envisioned. The user becomes no stranger to the submission process and core ideology, and ultimately are given the sense that they are a participant of the project even before they have even lifted a pen.

Project Innovation/Need

- Custom loading animation to ensure the best user experience, avoiding missing images as the site loads

- Immediate immersive user experience by utilising a seamless transition from the initial video to the first image of the parallax animation

- Subtle navigation hints that lead users into the scrolling navigation, whilst teasing the users’ curiosity with a “top secret” navigation tag on the top right

- Smooth transition between secondary sections and main scrolling experience section to create an effective single page website experience

- Appropriate amount of animations for optimal UX, keeping users interested without overuse of technology and using unnecessary resource

Design Challenge

Timeline wise, the project was developed within 30 days from concept to live date - a definite push that needed to coincide with their public event where the site would be showcased.
