Project Brief

Using the best in responsive layout design for desktop, mobile and tablet perfection, Butterfly and Murdoch Books created this stunning e-commerce website.

Butterfly were engaged to deliver not just Murdoch Books' Australian and UK websites, but also Allen & Unwin's sites in Australia and New Zealand. These were designed and developed concurrently and launched together.

Project Innovation/Need

The widescreen, dynamic banner space on the homepage, using the fabulous book cover designs in a mosaic pattern, is frequently updated to create a fresh homepage feel.

The site features:

• Contemporary, oversize design
• Clever use of a broad colour palette
• Sleek javascript animated menus on tablet and mobile
• Dynamic content pieces – for example, each author's previous books feed into each page for easy and self-managed content creation
• Highly advanced search function and filters to refine the 2,500+ products
• Users can easily switch between site versions (AU/UK)
• One page checkout for swift conversions
• Book covers synced from a central database
• Centrally managed stock availability
