Project Brief

Bet Your Balls was inspired by three Sydney based sports fans who loved sports tipping - yet thought it could be so much more. We also wanted to revive the time honoured traditional little wager between friends on who was going to win a game of sport. Head to head betting - no odds. Bet Your Balls connects you and your friends to all your favorite sports in an wickedly fun mobile game. Sports tipping reinvented with multiple sports, new gameplay, new leader boards, badges, power ups, penalties and even betting against your mates!

All Your Favourite Sports. For Aussie sports fans we have AFL, NRL, State of Origin, Super Rugby, The Rugby Championship and the A League Soccer. USA Sports? You bet. We've got NBA, NFL, MLB and NHL. UK and European sports fans get the English Premier League and UEFA Championship.

Sounds like fun? You can Bet Your Balls on that!

Project Need

Bet Your Balls addresses three problems.

(1) The world has changed. However sports tipping has not evolved so quickly. If sports tipping was just invented today it would be more flexible, more social, gamified and designed specifically for mobile.

(2) There was no structure to broadcast bets between friends.

(3) Traditional betting services are way too complicated.

Our solution was:

(1) Sports Tipping 2.0. Multi Sports, Badges, Power Ups, Penalties, Facebook Auto Friend, Custom leader boards, Custom competitions and plus better rules. Use the Balls you win in tipping to then bet against your friends with. All in an app specifically designed for mobile. Available anytime, anywhere to anyone.

(2) Friend to friend bet notifications. Create, broadcast, settle and record casual sports bets between friends. After you win - you can then sledge your friends using our in game messaging service.

(3) No Odds. Simple, easy to use and understand. Simply - who is going to win a game of sport?


User Experience

We designed our App around the principles of being super simple and super fun. A clean interface and intuitive gameplay is vital for successful game design.

Also.

(1) It must be a fun user experience for individuals.
- Tipping, Wide Range of Sports, Global Leader Board to compete on, Badges, Power Ups.

(2) It is a better user experience once you connect with friends.
- Betting, Friend Leader Board, Messages, Facebook integration.

(3) Must go Viral. Our marketing strategy relies on the App going viral with limited marketing support. To do this we made sure our app passed the following tests.
(i) Users must have something valuable to share - their bets and results. Their love of sports.
(ii) Make it easy for users to share and for friends to join - Facebook Auto Friend and clean sign up process.
(iii) Reward users for sharing and offer them incentives to come back. Read friends banter, grabbing balls won, badges.
(iv) More people use the app, the more value must be created for them. Custom comps, friendship, more regular social interaction, climbing leader boards. Kudos of bragging.
