Project Brief

Outware Mobile were engaged by Telstra to design and develop the NRL Live Official app for iPhone, iPad and Android phone for the 2013 Premiership Season.

The app provides access to:
• Live scores and stats
• Full match reply and highlight videos
• 2013 NRL Telstra Premiership draw
• Match details with kick off reminders
• News updates, pre and post game reports
• Ladder and stats

Users can make an In App purchase of a Weekly, Monthly or Annual Pass to enjoy even more features video content including:
• Video streams of the 2013 Telstra NRL Premiership, including the Finals Series and Grand Final live as it is being broadcast on TV
• Video streams of the 2013 ANZAC Test Match, U20's Origin and City vs Country game live as it is being broadcast on TV
• Post-match press conferences live

Project Need

The intention behind this app was to produce a best-of-breed native app for a sport that we love. The app is a real showcase for what can be achieved in a native app:

• Live video streams alongside live updating stats.
• Live radio streams integrate with the native audio controls allowing streaming to continue even while you use other apps.
• A seamless subscription process integrated with carrier billing.
• Incredible, high resolution graphics.
• A hybrid approach to news articles, making appropriate use of the best features of web views.
• Local notifications of match start times.

The app is universal and looks incredible on the high resolution new iPad. Many of its features such as live video and replays are not available through any other app.

User Experience
