Project Brief
Mirus Australia is an advisory group that helps aged care providers to be more sustainable and improve the quality of care. Mirus do this by providing a range of services that:
-- Increase organisational value through optimising revenue
-- Empower people through education, and,
-- Simplify complex data using fresh reporting solutions
The Aged Care Funding Instrument (ACFI) is a complex calculation created by the Federal Government to allow Aged Care facilities to calculate how much Government funding support they are entitled to. This is a complex algorithm, with no existing mobile application that applies the algorithm accurately and allows managers of aged care facilities to make calculations on their mobile devices. The objective of this project was to make ACFI available on all apple and Android devices.
The Application leverages Mirus’ aged care industry leading business intelligence expertise.
It features:
-- A simple ACFI Calculator with an easy to navigate user interface.
-- Detailed “What to consider” logic that guides the user to when an ACFI can be resubmitted.
-- A PDF Summary of the information that can be emailed and printed by the user to store in a resident’s file.
Project Need
The ACFI calculation had previously been complex, and as a result, many Aged Care Facilities have been under (or over) funded. All other solutions had also been desktop based, making it difficult for aged care managers to check and confirm ACFI calculations. Additionally, the technology created included a recommendation engine based on the results. This is the first time a recommended course of action has been included with an ACFI result, ensuring that facilities are able to optimize their ACFI position.
Alive Mobile, working closely with Mirus Australia were ability to design a more functional and simple way for aged care personnel to assess their entitlement to ACFI support. During the research and scoping phase, it was discovered, that whilst people were able to assess their ACFI entitlement over time, there was a lack of advice or insight as to how optimize their ACFI allowances.
User Experience
The Mirus ACFI calculator is targeted at aged care facility managers and ACFI coordinators.
Our task was to make a normally laborious process simple and to provide a tool that would allow the end user to complete such calculations without being reliant on a desktop.
By starting with, and understanding the end user, we were able to create an application that not only provided a much more accurate calculation but also improved efficiency and productivity amongst the target audience
Project Marketing
In support of the release of the Mirus ACFI Calculator application, alive produced a video that demonstrates the app itself along with various other, more traditional marketing materials including DL's, posters etc.
The Mirus team featured at a number of Aged Care exhibitions and road shows using all of the afore mentioned to promote the release of the app
