Project Overview
English Victoria Style, the British words contain meanings more than the features of extravagance, embellishment, and fancy in the era of colony. People can also say that, it is the art restoration style in 19 century when Queen Victoria of United Kingdom was on the throne from 1837 to 1901. It is the “Victoria Style” that reinterprets the meaning of classic, abandons the rational aesthetics of machines, and begins a new definition for art value in human lives.

Project Brief
For an era of fast-changing in politics, economics, and society in 19 century, the most significant result is the dramatic increase of affluent middle class. The ownership of the wealth and the elevation to the identity awakens consciousness of changing living environment and interior embellishments in the middle class. They try to present their achievements from the residence. Therefore, the decoration-based “Victoria Style” is born at the right moment.
Project Need
The industrial revolution makes the production in large quantity possible. Then, the design and manufacture by types is a convenient, cheap, and common place standard. That brings the opportunity for the people who like to free assemble decoration elements in Victoria style, and that beats other patterns ultimately.
Design Challenge
In fact, it is hard to categorize the Victoria style. The style is included with all kinds of decoration elements. The mixture of the patterns and no distinct innovations in decorations is the typical characteristic of the design in furniture and other items at that time. The most direct present, from the building, is all kinds of restoration of construction patterns in the history, and that present becomes a fashion in the Victoria history.
Sustainability
Those style overlaps in the history, and there is no obvious beginning and ending. Most of the residences are mixed style, and personal interpretations are abundant.

Open to all international projects this award celebrates innovative and creative building interiors, with consideration given to space creation and planning, furnishings, finishes, aesthetic presentation and functionality. Consideration also given to space allocation, traffic flow, building services, lighting, fixtures, flooring, colours, furnishings and surface finishes.
