Project Brief

RAINBOW MODULARE is a storage modular system featuring solid timber frames with an innovative brass corner joint. Leather clad shelf supports and coloured tinted glass shelves are added to the system as required. This system has been designed to ship flat with the customer assembling the components into whatever layout they desire.

We designed Rainblow Modulare as a response to everyday life and lifestyle trends that requires an ongoing flexibility of spaces and adaptability of furniture to meet our ever-changing lifestyle requirements. These units can be easily combined without the need for any special or complicated equipment and can be put together as needed, providing highly versatile and aesthetically pleasing storage solutions. There are many ways the units can be combined and assembled – linear, corner and vertical. They don’t need to be permanent and can easily be changed, as the finish of each unit enables it to be used as a final element without anything further needing to be added.

Project Innovation/Need

Rainbow Modulare is far from being a mere space for storage, it is a shelving system which displays more than it conceals, in a domestic or commercial setting. It is perfect for arrangements of personal, treasured objects such as books, plants and objet de ‘art to create still life compositions of the details and collections of one’s life.

Design Challenge

We wanted to design storage and display shelving that looked and felt light and modern, to keep the interior feeling larger and more airy. Light shining through the colour-tinted glass looks very pretty. The Rainbow Modulare has a lovely vintage feel and is multi-functional.

The design of Rainbow Modulare has centered around its modularity and transformability, starting with the design of a basic unit. The basic module can be combined with other identical modules to create a bespoke shelving unit. It can be made into an open bookcase or as a room divider.

Sustainability

The RAINBOW MODULARE has been designed to be flat-packed so that consumers can assemble themselves at home with a just a few simple tools. Not only does flat-packing save on materials, but it also saves on transportation costs since more pieces can be shipped at the same time. Ultimately, this type of design creates a resource-saving legacy.
