The Digital Transformation Office (DTO) has celebrated its first birthday with a blog post penned by CEO Paul Shetler looking back at the “highlights and milestones” of its inaugural year.

Given the remit of working with departments and agencies to make government services “better for the Australian people”, he spelled out how the DTO has among other measures created the Digital Service Standard – the benchmark for measuring good digital service delivery.

“Over the course of the year, we’ve tested it with agencies across government, and improved it by introducing in-flight assessments. The Standard is now Live and being adopted across government,” he said.

The establishment of “delivery hubs” in Canberra and Sydney are also highlighted. These hubs are aimed to help government agencies to transform digital services.

So far, Shetler said, the DTO has helped to deliver five “beta” services at:
The Department of Human Services (DTO has “improved” the Medicare enrolment process)
The Department of Immigration and Border Protection (DTO has created an online citizenship appointment booking service and introduced digital permits to simplify the process of importing goods)
The ACT Government (DTO has made it “easier” to book outpatient appointments)
The Department of Industry, Innovation and Science (DTO has made it easier to start a business).
