Project Brief

Richgro are an Australian-owned, fourth-generation family business that has been manufacturing premium garden products since 1916 and have grown into one of the top 5 garden products’ suppliers in the country.

They were seeking a platform that would further enhance their relationship with their customers by providing a valuable tool that will allow their customers grow even better gardens. To achieve that this app had to be more than a product catalogue.

The other objective was to enhance one of their key sales channels, Bunnings stores, by providing an app that would assist Bunnings staff to answer queries and find the right product at the point of sale.

Through a beautiful design, great user experience and some cool functionality we were able to effectively deliver on the project brief.

Project Need

To provide value to Richgro's customers this app couldn't just be a mobile product brochure, it had to exploit advanced functionality to make it a valuable tool that the customers will continue to come back to.

Based on Richgro's research they found that the common problems their customers experienced where not knowing:
- what products to use
- how much they need
- what to plant and when
- how to resolve common garden problems

The app addresses all of these issues through providing an easy to use interface to find information, advanced search functionality, product calculators, seasonal tips and the ability for Richgro to send push notifications to the users.

This is an app that isnt focused around a marketing campaign, this is a tool that Richgro's customers will continue to use over time and continue to get value out of.

User Experience

In designing this app there were two key customer segments we had to cater for, Richgro's customers and Bunning's staff.

In regards to Bunning's staff they will generally use the app in response to an instore question from a potential customer, so they need to be able to find the correct product quickly and accurately. To address this we have designed the navigation to have large buttons to be highly visual. The app also includes a search function so the user can search for a product, solve a problem or how to grow or the user can calculate how much or a product will be required.

As a Richgro customer the app allows for them to browse through beautiful content to plan the type of garden they would like to plant (based on seasons), research problems to issues they may be having in the garden or explore the product range.

Project Marketing

Richgro are promoting the app directly to their existing customers through their website and TV commercials.

Richgro have also recently completed exhibiting the app at events across Australia that introduced Bunnings staff to new products, which was extremely well received.

Project Privacy

No user data is captured by the app, therefore there are no privacy requirements.
