The Hyundai Brochures app for iPad/Android tablets provides all the official Hyundai vehicle and iCare brochures. Much more than just a digitisation of existing print material - the digital brochures bring Hyundai's vehicle range to life on the screen, allowing the user to view key exterior and interior features through interactive demonstrations and videos, select colours, view product specs, book a test drive with a dealer, compare with other vehicles and access a price calculator.

Project Brief

Research suggests consumers can spend up to 20 hours online researching vehicles before they set foot in a showroom, and the creation of the Hyundai Brochures and Accessories Apps makes the initial research phase of purchase more convenient, stress-free and user friendly.

Print brochures don't offer the exciting experience of digital interaction furthermore they are costly to produce. Giving customers what they need and allowing them to discover vehicles through an interactive and innovative experience is a far more powerful way to communicate.

Project Innovation/Need

The App is designed to allow the user to discover the vehicles for themselves through meaningful interaction:
*360's views which allow discovery of the interior and exterior of the vehicles
*Hotspots to delve deeper into vehicle features of interest
*Use of relevant video to bring the car to life
*Self discovery through interaction - e.g. user has the ability to fold seats themselves and reveal airbags in the car
*Presenting content in a way that helps the user in their decision making process - for example to be able to filter between vehicle models and compare features
*Giving control to the customer to take the next step through comparing vehicles, booking a test drive or finding a dealer.

User Experience

One of the main objectives was to bring the brochure experience to life through the app.

The brochures needed to feel 'brochure-like' but reimagined digitally. The interface needed to be clear in order for the user to know where interaction was possible. The user can swipe through the brochure as they would a magazine creating a relaxed browsing experience. With the employment of clear navigation and gesture indicators the user can explore with ease through the app, quickly picking up interaction points.
The experience puts the control into the users hands - giving them control to delve deeper if they want rather than overloading them with features and information which would potentially turn them away. Through the interface design a lot of information has been packed in, without confusing the user.

webqem was conscious of both online and offline viewing experiences while considering file size of the application. We have deployed a mix of embedded video content with streaming video from the Ooyala platform. We also wanted the the user to always have the latest information. By using the Adobe Digital Publishing Solution we are able to leverage the in app notification for the content and also use push notification to get the user back into app.

Project Marketing

The Hyundai Brochures App is the perfect tool for potential customers, offering 24/7 capability to view all vehicle specifications, navigate interior and exterior functions, and compare model features across the Hyundai range.
In addition the App enables consumers to evaluate safety equipment, colour and trim options, vehicle accessories and more. With the inclusion of a price calculator, dealer locator and ‘book a test drive’ features, the Hyundai Brochures App makes the first steps to Hyundai ownership a lot more convenient.
To date there has been over to 8,000 downloads across iOS and Android devices.
