WHIZZ is Australia's first an on-demand cleaning app. WHIZZ guarantees a cleaner at your house within three hours and promises five-star hotel service, including chocolates on your pillow, scented bed linen and folded toilet rolls, all booked from a smartphone app. WHIZZ just closed a $2 million Series B raising with support from the likes of Goldman Sachs Australia boss Simon Rothery, and 4 other sophisticated investors who were impressed by WHIZZ’s first six months in business, with figures of 50% month-on-month growth and 70 % of first time users converting to become regular customers.

Business was founded by Mark Bernberg, Adam Abrams and Julian Tobias. Mark is the CEO and drives the business on a day to day basis. Mark founded the business through pure frustration of not being able to find a home cleaner. Whilst riding in an Uber cab (note the irony) it occurred to him that the same on-demand service could be applied to the residential cleaning market in Australia!

Project Brief

It’s really tough to find a quality cleaner in Australia – they are either cowboys who demand cash in hand with questionable workmanship or the good ones have zero availability.
I came up with the idea for WHIZZ as my regular cleaner had to go to Manila because a family member had passed away. I struggled to find a replacement cleaner, going through the only few channels I knew which was
a) Facebook - “Does anyone know a good cleaner?” and b) by Googling “residential cleans in Sydney”.
Neither yielded anything positive. I was sitting in an Uber car and then it suddenly dawned on me… Why don't we bring together people looking for cleaners with cleaners looking for more jobs? WHIZZ was born!
What we have done is to Uber-fy residential cleaning. It allows you to source and secure a trusted professional and quality cleaner on demand, using the convenience of mobile technology.
We do this by matching end user’s cleaning needs with qualified outsourced cleaners using our bespoke scheduling and booking management systems.

Project Need

WHIZZ is Australia’s first on demand cleaning app – none of our competitors can claim this. We are also 100% Australian developed. WHIZZ matches up the excess capacity of a quality cleaner with the needs of a customer, in real time. This bespoke scheduling and booking management system is an Australian first.
As a result, we can guarantee a cleaner at your house within three hours. We are also the first to offer a five-star hotel service, including chocolates on your pillow, scented bed linen and folded toilet rolls, all booked from a smartphone app.
WHIZZ also has a flat fee pricing model – no hidden surprises as you know exactly how much the clean will cost before you order. Our competitors charge by the hour, and this is fraught with cost blowouts a consumer doesn't expect.
WHIZZ HQ tracks where cleaners are throughout the day and can warn customers ahead of time should there be any delays.
WHIZZ is also available for Apple Watch, the app will provide alerts when your WHIZZard is on the way, when they have arrived and when they are finished.

The ability to book a single or reoccurring clean and add it to your iPhone Calendar with reminders

User Experience

- hassle free because payment details are saved, no need to run to an ATM (convenience)
- GPS fence post (?) HQ is aware of when cleaners arrive at a job and if late, phone ahead to customer to alert them

Project Marketing

Word of mouth via social media and digital targeting is proving our most valuable marketing tools. Our goal is to make sure our customers have a great experience with WHIZZ and for them to tell their friends. That is key, and it is how people have traditionally sourced a quality cleaner.
We proudly have a near perfect 5 star Facebook rating, while most of our competitors, which don't offer the same quality service, have had to disable customer reviews because they were so bad.

We also have a very strong re-targeting campaign online. Consumers who who visit our website and don't place a booking, we are able to retarget them around the web and Facebook, encouraging them to come back. We’re finding this method to be very successful.

On top of this, public relations has been very successful in telling our story and attracting new customers.

Project Privacy

Customer privacy is taken very seriously at Whizz Technologies. Because of this our technology stack has been constructed to match the high expectations we have set for ourselves. Ensuring customer information is securely transmitted and stored is achieved through a multitude of methods. Any third party technology employed is thoroughly vetted to ensure it meets industry operations security standards and implemented in the intended manner. Several layers of security has been applied to the database including 4 sets of authentication keys required to interact with the database, table level CLPs, record level ACLs and user level authentication. Authentication keys are routinely changed to reduce the risk of data access being granted to unauthorised parties. A full audit trail has been put in place to capture any suspicious or unauthorised activity with member of the technology team consistently monitoring user and system input/output.
