Project Overview

The Northern Melbourne Medicare Local is helping users find the right medical treatments.
It educates the community about after hours GP locations, and the services they provide and when.
The GP Finder app is a fast and accurate way to locate clinics that are open at night and weekends. The app also includes listings of clinics that are accepting new patients and more.

Project Brief

The Northern Melbourne Medicare Local wanted to provide an effective solution for their After Hours program.
They wanted their community to be able to find an after hours GP when in need, instead of going to a hospital and being left in the waiting room for hours.
The GP Finder locates where the user is, what time it is, and shows them the closest after hours GP.
Each location has opening hours, languages spoke, bulk billing info, amount of male/female GP's and much more.
The app show the nearest one, and also provides the user the best direction to get there.

The opening times are also dynamic and will only show the practices that are open for efficient searching functionality.
For members of the community for whom English is not the first language, the new feature also provides information on other languages spoken by doctors practising at the clinic.
The NMML can access their own dashboard to see daily analytics, send important alerts, and update any information in their own CRM we developed.

Project Need

Its innovative because its an efficient way for users to find their nearest GP for after hours, locates it, shows all information needed, and directions.

Its also the first of its kind in Australia for any Medicare Local office, and made for their community to promote the After Hours initiative.

We developed their own custom CRM tool so they can update GP information when needed.

The locations are time active, so if someone injures them self at 8:00pm at night, the app will only show the practices open at that time, and after.

Save the user looking through many websites, to find a GP, and not have to go to the hospital and waiting hours for treatment.


User Experience

They download from either App store of Google Play.
We also promoted the app to their database by sending SMS with information about the app, and where to download it from.
Its promoted on their social media, website, and throughout other programs/initiatives.
In the Banyule/Northern Melbourne ML area, its an important tool for the community to educate users about After Hours GPs.
It was designed to attract the 16-45 ages group and show them that its better to go to a GP than a hospital.
Its been well received, lots of downloads, and always improving.
The user also receives alerts on local events, immunizations, new GP locations and other important information.

Project Marketing

The marketing strategy was to provide a tool that educates and engages the community to not go to a hospital when in need, and go to their nearest GP instead.

The tool is to provide the best solutions for a user to find their nearest GP in a medical emergency.

The app has been marketed well across all social media, newspapers, websites, and through staff.

Its been very engaging and successful when needed and available on all devices.

Project Privacy

The app does not collect any user information.

The NMML has login and password which they can access their own dashboard to update location information when needed.

This information is stored in three highly secure locations which we provide.
